Wow, it’s been awhile! I haven’t blogged as much as I had hoped to since I started my freelance business back in September of 2018 and I started to beat myself up about it a little this week as I drafted this new post.
I wrote a few paragraphs apologizing and offering justifications and then I reread them and deleted it all! I’ve never been one for sticking with something if it just isn’t working. There’s really no point in trying to fit a round peg in a square hole (and so on and so forth). So instead of explaining that things have been crazy and busy, I’d like to share where I’m at right now at this present moment!
When I started my business, I prepared myself for a really hard first year. Financially, emotionally – and everything else in between. And these first few months have been hard. But what I didn’t anticipate was how incredibly joyful, fulfilling, and exciting each step of this journey would be. Truly. I love what I do. I love client meetings, and branding projects, and creating content and working with amazing small business owners. Every day I wake up and I’m excited to get to work. And I can tell you from years of experience where this definitely wasn’t the case, that I couldn’t be more thankful or excited for what the future holds.
I do plan on updating this space more often as I move into a new season with my business. I want to fill you in on so many of the things I get asked consistently, like:
How do you start a freelance business in social media/marketing?
What is the whole list of services that I offer?
What tools do I use to run this crazy one-person show?
What is the secret, magic recipe to Instagram success? (hint: there isn’t one…)
But for now, I want to let you in on a big change happening in my business that I’m really thrilled about and definitely wasn’t prepared for until it just sorta… happened!
I’m renting a studio! A big, beautiful, light-filled studio where I’ll schedule photo shoots, host workshops, and have client meetings!
I’ll be sharing my space with Marisa Curatolo, an amazing food stylist and culinary teacher who has the same vision and passion for creating a beautiful, warm, and inviting space for clients, students, and Winnipeg in General. It’s so exciting and I never envisioned this happening within the first year of my business, but I’m so, so happy.
Mostly I’m excited for the way this will impact my clients! I’ll have a dedicated space to meet and shoot and dream. And I’m also excited for myself, because working from home is great, but also hard and I’m looking forward to getting out of my PJs and out of my apartment a little more often!
I can’ t wait to share photos and our vision for this space! But in the mean time, keep an eye for more updates and progress as Marisa and I move in and get settled starting April 1!
Thank you again for being here! As always, send me a message or a DM on Insta if you want to meet up and hear the whole story!
