IT’S 2019: DRINK SOME CIDER!
PEAR + APPLE CIDER PHOTOGRAPHY & DESIGN COLLABORATION
I’m so excited to share a fun little collaboration with product photos + art direction by me and a custom label design by Winnipeg designer, Ryan Poworoznik! This fun/festive/cozy winter drink recipe is the perfect thing to get through a frigid January in Winnipeg, and it was great getting to style and shoot Ryan’s beautifully designed labels.
This recipe makes approximately 2 litres of delicious, pear + apple flavoured goodness.
Without further ado: pretty photos AND a delicious recipe! Happy New Years everyone! 🎉
5 sticks of cinnamon
2 tsp clove
1 whole nutmeg
6 cups of water
2 tsp rum extract
2 inches of ginger
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 star anise
2 cups of apple juice (not from concentrate)
2 tsp lemon juice
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Core your pears and cut each one into four quarters
Peel and cut your orange into four quarters
Peel and coarsely chop your ginger
Combine all ingredients up to “ginger” in a slow cooker
Slow cook on low for 7 hours
At the 7 hour mark, open your slow cooker and mash up everything inside
Cook on high for one more hour
Use a cheesecloth or strainer to pour the liquid out of your slow cooker into a large pot
Make sure you squeeze out as much juice as possible
Once you’re done straining, move your pot to the stove and bring the mixture to a boil
Add in your maple syrup, apple juice, lemon juice, and any other spices to taste
Serve hot and get cozy!
